The process for making the tape shoe was actually kind of difficult. I had to trace the bottom of my shoe to get the form of the shoe. Then i had to figure out how to cut the note cards to the shapes of different parts of the shoe. After this i had to connect all the different pieces with tape. And had to layer the tape so u could barley see the not cards. I also had to tape the inside of the shoes and cut out an insole that fit after stuffing it with plastic bags to keep the shape. After all this i added the little shoe tag and create shoe laces by folding a piece of tape and punching holes in the tape shoe to fit the laces through. For my piece i found that the most successful parts were the shoe tag and the shoe laces. This is because they were the easiest part and actually came out nice and clean. the mid soles also came out okay. If i could change something about this piece it would be the tape job. I want the tape to look alot nicer and clean to make it look more realistic. I would also find a way to layer the tape. This was unsuccessful by the tape job because it wasn't done to perfection. and looks quite choppy.
The artist that inspired me is Kathleen Vance. Vance is from New York and continues to work in her studio which is located in New York its self. Her work consists of environmental installations. She inquires real life plants, water, and real soil in her pieces. Vance is inspired from nature and she likes to base her work around real life environmental issues. she has two studios the one in New York and also another one located in Maryland. This is really inspirational to me because i like how she uses real life materials and is just making landscapes on a smaller scale. the thing that really draws me in is how much detail she puts in to her work and how its like looking at the world from a birds eye view. I also love how she makes her pieces in old vintage trunks and how she could probably moves these pieces with ease and bring them with her where ever she goes. overall Vance is very interesting along with her work and i think she has a very creative and different way of working than most.
the materials i use were books, small tiles and diy wood pieces, some foil , and old piece from a light fixture. to make the chairs and table. What made it hard to work with these materials was getting an idea to come up with because these materials are very different. Finding out how to mix books and wooden chairs. Nic and I decided to make a dance floor with a disco ball. The reason why we decided to make this piece was we had chairs and thought about a VIP section, so we came up with a club where we could mix all the materials and form one big piece. Our piece is successful because its exactly how we wanted it and we had minimal problems while putting it together. we were very happy with the way that it turned out. it was hard to brainstorm ideas with the materials we had so this is what i came up with :(
For my tile piece i found that the gloss and the melted glass were the most successful parts of the piece. If i were to redo my tile piece i would most likely try and find a way to add more texture and additions to the mushroom. i would also like to have changed the red ring on the top. the subject i chose for the tile was a mushroom, the reason for this is that the theme was nature and i was thinking about things that grow in the wild and then mushroom popped in to my head.
for my cardboard piece i found the most successful part was the letters SUPREME. although it was hard to get the shape and eace letter to be about the same size. if i was to redo this piece o would want to change the way i cut the cardboard shirt. i would like to have gotten it to look neat and cut it more clean. For this piece we were allowed to do what ever we wanted. So i chose to do a Supreme box logo shirt. the reason for me to do this was that supreme is my favorite clothing company and a box logo tshirt is a super wanted piece of clothing that everyone who wears supreme dreams of having. the first texture i used was just regular cardboard this was not too bad. the only issue and the hardest problem i had to over come with this was cutting it with an xacto blade and getting it to the shape that i needed. the second texture i used was one half of a piece of cardboard. i found that it was challenging to get all the excess cardboard off without ripping or messing up the piece that i had needed The last texture that i had used was cutting the cardboard in to the letters to form the word supreme. this was the hardest out of all of the textures by far since i had to cut super small letters and making them fit on the little box that they are supposed to go one. overall the three texture i used were not so difficult but i had came across the problem of cutting everything the way i wanted it using a xacto blade. The art critisism process is a 4 step process. step one is describe. within this process you start by looking and seeing what you seen in this piece. Find and identify what materials the artist chose to use within the piece. Then explain what you see. step two is analyze. how did they use shapes and textures and colors. Find unitiy and repition.focal point or an eye grabber. the 3rd step is interpet. What do you see going on with the piece. find the purpose of this piece and what the art is saying. the 4th and final step is decide/evalluate. do you like this piece? The best and favorite part of this piece and the worst part of the piece. Last but not least is this a successful piece and why do you feel the answer you chose. the piece shown above is what I created for the walk in my shoes project. I chose to cut a skateboard diagonally and chose to make. One side the New York state flag and the other side the North Carolina state flag. before thisnit took awhile for me to figure out what to do. When i figured it out i starred with a line diagnally and traced the two flags. When i was dont with the tracing process i began to fill in the colors and make adjustments with the shadows and things like that. I chose to do this becasue i reallt love skateboarding and i lived in new your till i was eight years oldm then moved down to north carolina. The matierials and medium i used acrylic pain which ends up being a flat and smooth texture. the genre of thisnpiece would be a portrait. On one side you see two women one wearing a blue dress and the other is in a bright yellow dress. And between thentwo women there is a picture of water bodies with mountains that kver look the sun. Now in the other side there is a flag split in to three sections on is blue red and white. Within the blue section there are the letters N and C and a star between both of them. there are also two little flags with dates on them. both the flags have the color blue in them. The purpose of this piece is that i love skate boarding and that i moved from new york to nc. I fell that the best thing about this piece would be the women in the mew york state flag becasue they came out very well and look really close to the picture of the flag. The worst thing about rhis piece would be the little banners above the nc becasue they did not come out identical and became alittle messy. Through out this piece ive learned how to tto make colors shownup better whem you mix them also learned how to make shadows. 4. i believe that artist decide to make and create art for a various amount of reason. forst off i think that artist make art are to express wat they are feeling and thinking. becasue alot of artist like to express thier mind in different wayd then wordsi also think thay artist just make art for run and it can be a stress relief. along witht he stress relief some artist just do it for fun or to create very cool pieces and sculpturs. Just likenthe clay bowl and tray picture you see above that is a piece that i just wanted to do for fun and added in my favorite colors.
7. The point of this class or art 1 is to learn about what art is.You dont have to be an amazing arrist to take this class or get a 100. This class is also to teach you all the dufferent rypes of art like portraits l, claymaking printmaking and more. Also techniuqes tat you can learn to further your expirence in art. Through out this class i have learned alot of new techniuqes and felt like i have became a better atrist. the picture of the trailers is one of the first pieces i made in this class and it chose alot of the new techniques i learned that day like cross hatching.. 8. the warm up that i learned theost from in my sketch book would have to be the hands.we jad to draw our hand just by looking at it and drawing what we see.i chose this as the most helpful warmup becasue it taught me how to make things have alot more realistic qualities. also it taught me how to make all the lines and creases of the hands just by looking at my hand. i think thats the art critisim process is describe anyalyze interpret and evaluate. the way i would crituqe my work would be looking at what is good about it and what is wrong about i. also is it a good piece or not. and whatvisbthis piece about.
Ichose to do the portrait of my brother. Because i had a really good picture to use.i picked color pencils as my medium becasue they are reqlly easy to use and look nice. Also im not tood with oil pastel. The mini project i chose to do wat the clay bowl and tray. the reason why i chose to do the clay project was becasue we rarely used clay. Also i didnt want to make a book.
I picked this piece becasue I like the cats and they are awesome. and that the cats are fighting. the main thing that draws my attention is the swords and that the cats are fighting. The only thing Iwould change would beaking the cats siemes. The techniuque that this person used was acrylic.
